Always place down the portal before you decide whether to flee or to fight back. Cover + Hangman's Ire should buy you enough time to be able to teleport away. When an enemy attacks you, you get behind cover and place down the portal.
You just have to make sure you always have cover nearby and also have Hangman's Ire 4/5. You can often get away with placing down the second portal after you get jumped by an enemy. You don't want to constantly place portals, since you're going to end up teleporting a small distance which makes it easy for enemies to chase you. However if you're on the move it's a bit more difficult. I recommend placing the portal in such a way that it remains in your sight, so you don't accidently walk into it. This way you can immediately teleport away when enemies decide to come after you. If you're staying in a certain area for longer periods of time then you can place your second portal immediately when you get there. I like to place it along the way while I'm moving to the battle. Don't go too much out of your way to find the perfect spot for the portal. You also always want to place that portal behind cover, outside of the enemies' sightlines. It doesn't need to be very far away from the enemy, just far enough that they can't easily chase you when you teleport. But in order to use it you need to have a very good idea of where the enemies are and how you should position yourself relative to the enemies.Īlways have 1 portal up that you will teleport to. In combination with Hangman's Ire and Dark Bargain you become really hard to kill. Shortcut is one of the most underrated abilities out there and very powerful.
